DJ and Other Accomplishments

This first photo is of my completed project for January, my Whig Rose quilt. I've been working on it off and on for almost 2 1/2 years. It is all hand appliqued and hand quilted. It was a project I chose to do to help get me used to (ie not afraid of) hand applique. It worked! I actually don't mind doing hand applique at all now! I finished this project today, even though it was my January project. But finished is finished, by golly!

The lovely triangle you see here is Dear Jane triangle T7 called Norway's Fjord. Let me tell you, this thing gave me fits(as is evidenced by the diamond teetering at the top)! My sister, Betsy who you can see over at Quiltedobsession.blogspot.com, (can someone please tell me how to make that link?) came to my house for the weekend with her youngest daughter and her son. Betsy is also doing a Dear Jane quilt and actually is almost done with all the center blocks. We had a good time and managed to work on this triangle together. It was a struggle for both of us. I kept sneaking into the sewing room to try to get mine done before her, but she always caught on and ended up easily beating me to the punch. Her's looks fantastic!

I also finished a block for the week, which I'll share later. I've prepped a triangle and block for this coming week and hope to get more than one each done this week. That's it for me for tonight! Happy stitching!

  1. Hi there, I found your blog on the Quilter's Gallery.
That whig rose is stunning! and how you have the patience to even begin those bitsy DJ blocks, every time I've tried one I always enlarged it (300% or more -- gotta love technology).

If no one has helped you with creating links yet, I think maybe I can explain it. Maybe. Here's what I do:
I have the compose mode active for Blogger -- that's the default I think, but just in case yours is not activated it's on page one of your settings, under "Global Settings".

So I open a seperate browser and go to the page I want to link to in my post.
Highlight the address in the address bar.
    Copy it.
Then go back to my "new post" (in compose mode) and Paste in the address.
That way I'm less likely to have a typo and it automatically comes up as a link.

I don't know if that's the right way to do it -- I'm self taught -- but it seems to work, and that's good enough for me.

The html tags seem to be *greater than* a and then a whole bunch of stuff that is the link's address, *less than*, the name of the link which you can change, and then *greater than*/a *less than* to close the code. But compose mode is much easier.

  2. Two things I like to do. Dear Jane blocks and hand applique. Whig Rose is beautiful and so are your DJ blocks.
